By: Jenny An Forget the indie-rock scenes of Chicago and Brooklyn, the real music from the States can be found in everyone’s backyard – if you live in Kansas or Nebraska that is. Jagjaguwar’s newest addition is Minus Story, a psych rock band from Lawrence, Kansas. The quintet will be trekking across the United States in June and July, ending in their hometown, in support of their newest release.
Released by Jagjaguwar on June 19th, My Ion Truss is the group’s first studio album. Produced by John Congleton (Explosions In the Sky), it mixes an airy tenor with steady drum beats and delicate guitar and keyboard flourishes in a sound that is distinctly Jagjaguwar.
They’ll be accompanied by Matador’s dreamy, lo-fi, experimental rockers Shearwater during the first leg and then by fellow Lawrance natives, Old Canes – the more danceable project of Appleseed Cast’s front man, Christopher Crisci.
