Put Your Hands Together: Electric Soft Parade Tour
By: Chrisy Mannering
Oh that’s the case alright so put your hands together; Electric Soft Parade are touring. Hearing them over satellite waves is one thing, but US fans will be excited to know they will be seeing, the England-based, Electric Soft Parade in the states this summer. After what has been called a four-year hiatus, Alex and Tom White, Matthew Twaites and Mathew Priest are going abroad in support of their latest album No Need To Be Downhearted which was released April 24, 2007.
Power pop at its finest, Electric Soft Parade hadn’t released a full length album in the US until No Need To Be Downhearted was launched by Better Looking Records; so the wave of enthusiasm here should come as no surprise. We like British Pop, but making a quick judgment call wouldn’t do Electric Soft Parade any justice. They offer more than the early 90s sounds of Oasis and are promising enough that there is no fizzle in sight. This is a band to indulge in and the first place they hit was on May 22nd in San Diego, California.
So far each show has been a success and it’s only getting better because their next shows, beginning on June 2nd in Portland, Oregon, will include openers BrakesBrakesBrakes and Pela. Keep an eye on when they’ll be in your area or start planning a road trip; this month long trek will be ending in New York at the Mercury Lounge during the week of June 17th.
