Sometimes it gets hard to keep talking about Radiohead. They're really good at smashing the status quo (maybe they could run for President of the United States? Radiohead ... the "change" candidate!) and doing what they do well. So it should come as no surprise that they hit the number one spot on the U.K. chart on the first week that their album In Rainbows was released on CD.
The chart rankings are put together by the Official UK Charts Company. This number one offering is the fifth number one album for Radiohead, so high fives all around and all that, but they've definitely been down this road before.
How is In Rainbows? The album has great moments of Radiohead melancholy and paranoia and fear and loathing next to an upbeat, almost happy chord in some of the songs on the album.
The CD release is the follow-up to the listening-happening that took place last October as people all over the world downloaded and listened as Radiohead once again managed to capture the hearts and minds of music lovers all over the planet. Sound cheesy? Maybe so, but the band has a knack for making music interesting again.
