Matthew Houck, the man behind Phosphorescent, released his album, Pride, on October 23, 2007. Prior to this album, was 2003's A Hundred Times or More, 2004's The Weight of Flight EP and 2005's Aw Come Aw Wry. Clearly, he lives, breathes, sleeps and probably eats music.

After Pride hit shelves, he packed up his things and began an international tour starting in North America and then taking him throughout England, Belgium, the Netherlands and Iceland. Now that the craziness of his massive fall tour has passed, he'll busily remain in the states touring from the beginning of February and through until the SXSW in Austin, Texas mid-March. This time he will be joined by the fabulous Bowerbirds from North Carolina.

If you're familiar with Phosphorescent, then you know of Matthew Houck's tendency for psychedelic and often transcendental folk music. During this era of indie pop and/or lo-fi tunes, Phosphorescent stands out like a sore thumb. The instrumentation would seem unmatched if you picked out each piece; horns, pump organ, piano, pedal steel, fuzzed guitar, choral voices and percussion, but somehow it awkwardly blends together when arranged by Houck. So check out the shows, because it would be interesting, to say the least, to see how fiery and unconventional Phosphorescent can be in a live format.
