South by Southwest Music Festival Names 2008 Line Up
By: Spacelab Research Staff
Not to be outdone by this week's line up news by the Bonnaroo Festival, Austin's South by Southwest Music Festival launched its full-on line up for their 2008 shindig, a list as long as you can imagine and maybe even a little longer. They host a lot of bands.
Maybe you could clone yourself and head out in droves to just try to see all of the bands at SXSW. Maybe you could tactically pick out certain bands and hope to converge in clustered areas and see parts of of their performances. Maybe you could look at the list and realize the as South by Southwest grows to epic proportions, you'll probably see more of these bands on YouTube than you will at the festival.
The SXSW web site says "11,750 music industry professionals for compelling panels, industry discussions, demo listening sessions, trade show exhibits, and - as always - five nights of music by more than 1,500 acts hailing from 33 different countries, performing in over 70 venues in downtown Austin." Then they go on to say there were over 123,000 people were there.
Serving as a who's who of right now and bands of tomorrow (or next year even), SXSW 2008 is including bands like Times New Viking, Tapes n' Tapes, White Rabbits, Black Moth Super Rainbow, Handsome Furs, or more than could ever be possibly listed here. Fortunately for you, dear reader, there's a full list in the Spacelab Festival Guide, which you can see by hitting the festival overview link below.
