Hardly Art Signs Pretty and Nice

By: Corey Tate

You might want to be tazed with this, bro. Seatllite indie label and Sub Pop offshoot Hardly Art have been toiling away in the damp city again, finding new bands to sign to their label. This time they've dug up a band on the opposite coast. Pretty and Nice hail from Boston, but it didn't prevent the Hardly Art S.W.A.T. team from tracking them down and signing them to the label.

The music is kind of spazzy, but in a good way, and has some kind of high energy, rough appeal to it. Pretty and Nice is described as "A self-proclaimed group of tazer rockers, [that] have been churning out glitch pop hits like crazed robots for the past three years." I'd be completely lying if I said I didn't hear a little bit of the Clash in there.

If you cruise over to their MySpace right now, you can see what that means. Better yet, go to their real web site, the player there has better fidelity.

This is all very early on at the moment, but the facts are as follows: 1) Pretty and Nice will release an album on said label, later this year, and 2) they're playing shows in March that includes a stop at the veritable SXSW music festival!
