eMusic has hatched a plan to expose unsigned artists they see as underexposed. They've announced eMusic Selects, which is set to feature two bands or artists every month on the eMusic web site and its 17 Dots blog. In exchange, emusic will get exclusive rights to the selling of that band for two months.
It's eMusic's attempt to create a "highly-curated boutique music space launching February 12 on eMusic that will showcase unsigned and underexposed new artists," as they posed in an announcement about the eMusic Selects.
The plan will start with High Places (Brooklyn) and Breathe Owl Breathe Michigan). High Places play "spastic combustion of world beat, hip-hop, dream-pop and indie rock," while Breathe Owl Breathe are more of a indie/classical/traditional sound.
