Tegan and Sara

Travelling the World With
Tegan and Sara

By: Christy Mannering
Whenever I hear Tegan and Sara I instantly sing their names to the tune of “Copacabana” I think that makes me odd. At least I’m not gossiping about their sexual orientation (which means nothing to me) because the girls CAN SING! I don’t care if they are attracted to Edward Scissorhands ... I bet these identical twins were writing guitar chords in the womb.

Tegan and Sara released their fifth album The Con in the U.K. on February 18, 2008 courtesy of Vapor Records; even though downloads have been available since mid-January (unless you count leaks). Those of you in Germany will be able to buy it in person on February 28th. This album has been in the works for a year with the help of Chris Walla (Death Cab for Cutie). The girls put everything into it, blood, sweat and wagon wheel grime. They relocated to Oregon, walked to the studio every day and towed their gear in a wagon behind them. The only thing you can blame them for is being passionate and writing catchy songs.

To further prove their awesomeness, the girls are constantly touring. Friday, February 22, 2008 their UK tour starts and it’s non-stop musical genius on the road until they take a flight over to the States to begin their US tour in April at the Historic Elsinore Theatre in Oregon. They finish May 12th in New York, and I think they’ll then be ready to go into hiding again. Hopefully for us this means a new album a couple years from now.
