It's been about two years since indie pop phenom Mates of State released their album Bring It Back on Barsuk Records, their first offering for the label. They've decided that it's high time to release their next phase ... titled Re-Arrange Us.
The band used the talents of many producers, incuding Chris Walla at Tiny Telephone in San Francisco, Peter Katis at Tarquin Studios in Bridgeport, and Jim Eno at Public Hi-Fi in Austin.
They'll also package it all with a cover you can "re-arrange," into no less than eight different combinations. Now you can have your Mates of State and re-arrange it too.
Mates of State 2.0 will also come out on Barsuk, and will arrive on May 20th. The label says that the album is a step forward for the band:
"On re-arrange us they move beyond [previous] boundaries (their traditional organ sound is a distant memory, replaced with organic piano and synth sounds) with additional instrumentation — not to mention a quantum leap in songcraft apparent on instantly indelible gems like now, jigsaw and get better."
You can also catch them at Coachella or All Points West.
