The Walkmen have finished up their fourth album, You & Me, and are planning a late Summer release. They're also planning some shows for August.
A news release on the band sums up the new approach: "You and Me offers a distinctive twist to the“Walkmen” sound of their first three records. Each song shows focus, and an up-beat enthusiasm apparent in all lyrics, music, and performances. It is a long record, clocking in at just under an hour, and it presents a wide range of ideas. The pacing is very important, as the band felt it was essential to set the right tone, and show each song in its proper light."
For two years, the band shuttled between Philly and New York, recording over 400 instances of songs and toiling over what they would eventually call You & Me. Then they put that all behind them, and worked with engineer John Agnello (Dinosaur Jr., Hold Steady, Sonic Youth) at Sweet Tea studios in Oxford, Mississippi; they also spent a little time at Gigantic Studios with Chris Zane and Alex Aldi eating hamburgers from La Esquina and finalizing some music.
The Walkmen's You & Me will come out on August 19th via Gigantic Music .
