Oneida might be consumed with the power of the number three, as it's starting to shape how they're releasing music for the forseeable future. They're also a band of three members. They're about to unfurl the first installment of their triptych Thank Your Parents project.
First, the upcoming release of Preteen Weaponry, which includes three almost entirely instrumental songs (long ones). They'll release it on the Jajaguwar Records imprint, Brah Records.
Jagjaguwar says "Preteen Weaponry has three parts and is meant to be listened to at once (in order). It is almost entirely instrumental. Each part was recorded at different times and in different states of mind, but all on the same day. Preteen Weaponry, along with the second and third chapters of Thank Your Parents, was recorded by the band with the aid of longtime collaborator Barry London at their new Brooklyn studio, The Ocropolis."
They're also working on the second installment called Rated O (which presumably could mean rated O for Oneida?), due for release sometime next year.
In the meantime, check out part of Preteen Weaponry, pre-released by the band. It's a bombastic distortion of the space-time continuum with a side of feedback:
