The Mogwai Nation is feverishly anticipating the release of The Hawk Is Howling, the new Mogwai full length, which is scheduled for release on September 22nd/23rd on Matador in the U.S. and presumably on their own Rock Action label in Europe.

Now we get our first taste of the album, courtesy of Matador Records. They've released an MP3 for the song Sun Smells Too Loud. In it, Mogwai combines a slow build of droney keyboards and steady rythyms with a subdued but distorted guitar line. An interesting look at what's to come.

Mogwai's Batcat EP will be released September 8th/9th as a CD, 12" and download. They worked with singer Roky Erikson on one of the tracks, Devil Rides.
