The Dutchess and the Duke and the Way-Back Machine

By: Spacelab Research Staff

Let's jump in the way-back machine for a moment, and travel back to a simpler time. A time when the world was filled with the jangling sounds of the folk underground, urban angst, and a struggle to end the war. Wait, that sounds like right now!

That's what makes the sounds of The Dutchess and the Duke seem so relevant. They may be a throwback to a past era, but their purity of sound and spirit make the whole experience inviting. There's a deep influence of the Stones and Bob Dylan here, as played out in the MP3 of Reservoir Park. It's also reminiscent of the lifeforce that early Brian Jonestown Massacre was known for tapping into. It's the first single off of the new album She's the Dutchess, He's the Duke.

The bohemian and idealized atmosphere is hard to deny, and hard not to like. The Dutchess and the Duke hold court over that whole sound in a way that is captivating and not unlike a time warp.

The Dutchess and the Duke will release She's the Dutchess, He's the Duke on July 8th on Hardly Art Records.
