Sometimes it's the seemingly cute little punk bands that end up being the most dangerous. Duchess Says is one of those bands. Cute, young female, lead singer? Check. Hip kids that look like they're oozing in immediacy? Check. Sharp, spiky delivery that's not unlike throwing razor blades at your ears? Check.
Hailing from the punk mecca that is Montreal, Duchess Says create a hybrid of the sharp angst that punk provides with the choppy electronic experiments of a band like Les Georges Leningrad (who they've toured with). Their label, Alien8 Recordings, calls it “moog rock.” Put all in a blender and, viola! you have Duchess Says.
Anthologie des 3 Perchoirs is out now on on Alien8 Recordings.
