Sebastien Grainger, the drummer behind Death From Above 1979, has resurfaced on Saddle Creek Records and will release a full length album and EP on the label.
The EP, titled American Names, is avaialble now in digital form. It's straight-forward indie rock with the solid kind of production values we've come to know from Grainger as his previous partner in crime, Jesse Keeler who went on to start the whole MSTRKRFT empire. You can stream the track Map of the World on his MySpace right now.
In the meantime, Sebastien is working out all of the details of a full length release, sheduled for release sometime later this year. For now, he's working out all of the songs and getting mathematic about it: “every song is a problem, or an equation that I have to resolve," he said.
“This record is an opening statement but in no way do I think it’s a map of things to come... it’s a ‘jump off’ ... hopefully a solid step back into the world,” said Grainger. “I still haven’t written my ‘Thunder Road."
