Parts & Labor have started flirting with their ostentacious pop side. Their label, Jagjaguwar, says "Though they've maintained their love affair with glitchy oscillations and anthemic vocals, they are now utilizing the full possibilities of a band that was once a scrappy punk trio, and now a mature art-rock quartet." So the boys (and girl) are growing up. If the MP3 of Nowheres Nigh is any sign of what's to come, they're completely serious about this maturity thing though.
Not that the road to pop stardom hasn't been rough. They lost their drummer last year (no bizarre Spinal Type drummer accidents) when he left to pursue a writing career. Before anyone could blink twice they recruited drummer Joe Wong and added guitarist Sarah Lipstate. Suddenly, there were four!
They're taking the collaborative route on the new album, after asking fans to submit found sounds to them earlier this year. They recieved hundreds of sounds and used every single last one of them on the album.
They'll release the album Receivers on October 21st (November 3 in the U.K.) on Jajaguwar.
