Song of the Sirens: Vivian Girls

Oh, you mean those   Vivian Girls. Not the ones from Berkley, or Australia, or the conction of artist Henry Darger. These Vivian Girls make shoegaze-jangly pop songs with an echo chamber kind of feel to them. Vive le ninties!


They're releasing their self-titled debut on CD after a sold-out run on vinyl, good news for anyone into that sort of thing. Their swirling psychedelia feedback combined with a New York punk girl kind of vibe is the perfect iconoclast for people who like conflicted music. The vocals are reminiscent of Miki Berenyi of Lush, while the music draws as much from My Bloody Valentine and Jesus and Mary Chain.
