Decemberists Get Political on New Singles Series

By - Spacelab Research Staff

Those heady Decemberists are offering us a view into their world this Fall with the release of a new series of singles titled Always the Bridesmaid: A Singles Series. They're also getting politcal. I told you they were heady.

The first single consists of Valerie Plame, and O New England. Release date: October 14th. The band will perform Valerie Plame on Conan O'Brien on November 3rd.

The second single consists of Days of Elaine with both Days of Elaine (Long) and I'm Sticking With You snuck in on side B. Release Date: November 4th.

The third single consists of Record Year for Rainfall b/w Raincoat Song. Release Date: December 2nd.

The set three of singles will be made available digitally and on 12” vinyl in the U.S. and and 7" vinyl and digital in the UK through Rough Trade. The U.S. digital release goes through Capitol Records and the U.S. vinyl release will happen through the band's new imprint, Y.A.B.B. Records.

As for a new album in 2009, the band is hard at work on it right now, as they tell us.

"And this mysterious LP which proved an inhospitable home to these little pop gems? The band is currently hard at work in the studio trying to tame its mangy throw. It's a tough bit of leather. . .a little mossy, a little evil," reads a post on their web site.
