Instrumental fans, rejoice.
The Wordless Music Series is back to celebrate, explore, and expose the phenomena of wordless music, to continue its quest to shed the barriers between past and present, traditional and modern, classical and popular.
Once again, the Wordless Music Series brings together contemporary rock and electronic musicians in intimate settings with more traditional performers and pieces. The goal: "to bring audiences together, and to introduce listeners from both worlds to composers that they might otherwise not encounter, for a completely new concert experience."
Performers for the 2008-2009 series include 130701's Hauschka, FatCat's Tom Brosseau, 130701 alumnus Sylvain Chaveau (sharing a bill with Goldmund), as well as Terry Riley, Shearwater, Signal featuring Steve Reich performing Reich's "Music For 18 Musicians" and "You Are (Variations)", Tim Hecker, Daedalus, Stars Of The Lid, and many more.
You can stream concerts from the 2007-2008 season thanks to WNYC.
