It's almost better than getting a star on the Walk of Fame or being inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. The Sex Pistols are making the cut to a Rhino DVD release, thus being enshrined forever in the pantheon of Rhino anthologies, compilations, and best of series. Just ask Stereolab.
Rhino will release a Sex Pistols DVD titled There Will Always Be An England this fall, a romp down memory lane for any Sex Pistols fanatic, featuring a 2007 reunion show at the Brixton Academy in London. The band for the show includes the heady lineup of Johnny Rotten, Paul Cook, Steve Jones, and Glen Matlock. There's also an 80 minute interview feature titled "The Knowledge", in which each of the band members revisit the glory days by going back to their old hangouts to reminisce the days of squatting and being a young, budding anarchist in the London punk scene.
There Will Always Be An England was directed by Julien Temple, who has documented band exploits in the past with The Great Rock n Roll Swindle and The Filth and the Fury.
The DVD was originally released in June of 2008, but will be re-released by Rhino on October 14th, in conjunction with the heavy-duty, 180-gram vinyl re-release of Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols.
