It looks like 2009 will bring a whole new direction for LCD Soundsystem frontman James Murphy, as he's been working on a side project with Pat Mahoney as well as Scott Wells and Paul Spranglers of Hockey Night (Scott and Paul actually started it, James and Pat are helping out). What bold, innovative, new genre will they be working to define? Classic Rock.
James talked about the project when speaking 6Music on BBC, saying “It’s a rock record, a classic rock record.”
The project seems to be still coming together as a whole concept. They haven't even decided on a name yet.
“They have a lot of names that we argue back and forth about. I think they try to come up with the worst names possible just to wind me up.”
They'll be joined by unamed members of Hercules and Love Affair, and the album will be released on Murphy's DFA label sometime next year. |
