After a long year, Greg Dulli's 2007 show at the Triple Door Theater in Seattle will finally see a release as a live album later this month.
He played the show as a chance to do stripped-down acoustic versions of material from his work in the Twilight Singers and the Gutter Twins, with an occasional cover like Jose Gonzales' "Down The Line".
Not wanting to stand on stage alone with an acoustic guitar, he added Petra Haden, Shawn Smith, Jeff Klein, and Barb Antonio to the performance to help out.
“I was originally asked to perform alone but that prospect was terrifying to me, so I asked Petra to come along,” commented Dulli. “Then I thought ‘Jeff's done this a million times, I'll bring him too.’ I hadn't played with Shawn or Barb in ten years and they lived in Seattle, so I called them and what started as a potentially scary situation turned into a beautiful band without all the clanging and banging. And I could actually hear myself onstage for once and sang (mostly) in key.”
The show was a benefit for The Vera Project in Seattle.
Live at Triple Door will be released on October 28th via Dulli's own Infernal Recordings label.
