Asobi Seksu are set to release their new album Hush on February 17th. It's their third full-length album, which will be the first for their new home, Polyvinyl Records.
There's a single that will precede the album release, titled "Me and Mary". It's currently streaming on their MySpace. It features a non-album b-side titled "Breathe Into Glass". The single will be released on November 17th or 18th, depending on which part of the world you live in.
Asobi Seksu headed back into the studio in June, working again with producer Chris Zane.
“It seemed only natural to work with Chris again to see what we could do with more time and flexibility in the studio,” said singer Yuki Chikudate. For this album, they'll take their time and doit right, she insists. "Our last record was done under such stressful conditions, especially given the time constraints, so there was not as much room to try out everything that we wanted to."
The band is happy with the new Polyvinyl arrangement. They're working with a label that they dig on a representational level, the kind of label that they would buy music from.
“I couldn't be happier to be working with Polyvinyl. They are such a well-respected label and have a great sense of post-punk, diy ethics. Yuki and I are both huge record junkies so the fact that they are super into high quality vinyl releases with such creative packaging is exciting,” said guitarist James Hanna.
