Karin Dreijer Andersson of The Knife has launched a solo project titled Fever Ray, an outlet for more of her dark auspices. The album will see a worldwide release in March of next year.
With her commitment to the Knife, and their brand new opera that they're planning, one could wonder how she could be so prolific. Coming up with new music it seemed, wasn't a problem.
“I had so many songs to record that I just had to make an album. I thought I was going to have a longer break but I guess it will never happen. I can't stop working. My aim was to finish the album and now that it's done I'm a bit restless," said Karin.
A single for the song If I Had a Heart is out now and a video is forthcoming, directed by Andreas Nilsson (José González, The Knife).
The album will see a release on a number of labels depending on where you are in the world -- Rabid Records in Sweden (March 18) and in the UK (March 23), Mute Records in the US (March 24th), as well as Cooperative Music for the rest of Europe, Etc Etc in Australia & New Zealand. Who said Globalism was dying?
For fanatics of The Knife (and Honey Is Cool) you can rest easy. There will be live shows.
"During the last years I discovered that I like to sing too, so I hope that my newly found live band will make it to the stages next year. We are rehearsing and building something beautiful and brilliant."
