Everybody needs a little happiness these days ... so how about The Happiness Project from Charles Spearin (Broken Social Scene, Do Make Say Think)? He's been getting busy interviweing his neighbors in downtown Toronto about different things ... and the subject of happiness kept coming up. Spearin worked that thread with different people and eventually wrote music to follow the melody and cadence of how people would speak when they talk about happiness.
“It has always been interesting to me how we use sounds to convey concepts,” said Charles. “Normally, we don’t pay any attention to the movement of our lips and tongue, and the rising and falling of our voices as we toss our thoughts back and forth to each other. We just talk and listen. The only time we pay attention to these qualities is in song.”
Canadian label Arts&Crafts will release the Happiness Project on February 14th.
