Things are looking this year for The Soft Pack, with a few releases on the way, a new signing with Kemado Records, and some high profile shows with the Raveonettes and the Black Lips.
The band had been talking with Kemado since before their appearance at last Fall's CMJ Festival/Showcase thing, but recently completed their signing and will release a full-length album before the end of the year. They also plan to release various 7" singles along the way.
"Right now, we're writing new songs and demos. We've been writing and working pretty hard when we haven't been touring. And it's an incentive to get more work done," guitarist Matty McLoughlin told Billboard in a recent interview.
They've got a great cover of the Spacemen 3 / Spiritualized track Walking With Jesus floating around. It has a stripped down flavor to it, sort of a threadbare, knuckleskin vibe that's kind of in your face when compared to the more egalitarian stylings of J Spaceman.
They've been asked by The Breeders to play at this year's Breeders-curated ATP Festival, and will play a number of shows opening for both the Raveonettes and the Black Lips.
