Glasgow band Camera Obscura are starting off 2009 right with a signing to their new label 4AD. The signing marks a departure from their previous label, Merge Records. 4AD will handle all of the bands worldwide releases. They've even released a track from the album.
Showing the self-depricating wit that the band always does, they remarked on the signing by saying "We are understandably excited about this but will endeavor not to reflect this in our facial expressions so as not to cause unnecessary alarm."
The new album is titled My Maudlin Career, and will be released on April 20th. It will be the follow up to their 2006 release Let's Get Out of This Country.
The album release will follow the single "French Navy," to be released at the beginning of April.
It was part of a triple signing by the label, which included The Big Pink, Broken Records and Camera Obscura.
