The 2009 Meltdown Festival has named free jazz saxophonist Ornette Coleman as its Artistic Director to curate this year's festival.

The initial lineup has also just been announced, including names like The Roots, Yoko Ono, The Freewheeling Yo La Tengo, Moby, Cornelius, Patti Smith and more.

Tickets go on sale to Southbank Centre Members at 10am on Wednesday April 29th. Everyone else gets a chance to buy tickets starting at 10am on Thursday, April 30th.

Last year's Meltdown Festival was curated by Massive Attack.
