In the continuing return of bands of yore fashioning a resurgence on Matador Records, Yo La Tengo have announced a new release for September 8th. It's titled Popular Songs, and will be available on CD, vinyl and digital. It will be the follow up to I Am Not Afraid of You and I Will Beat Your Ass.
It was recorded earlier this year with Roger Mountenot in both Hoboken and Nashville, Matador is saying the album is Yo La Tengo "at the height of their creative powers, fashioning an epic work that’s cooly confident as it is wildly adventurous." Sounds epic.
There's also a Fall tour in the works, with dates coming soon. In the meantime, Matador has unleashed the sugary organ nugget of a new single titled "Periodically Double Or Triple.” Check it out at the link below.
