Lou! Lou. Lou...Mr. Barlow is back with a new album this fall titled Goodnight Unknown on Merge Records. He gets some help from Dale Crover (The Melvins’), Imaad Wasif (Yeah Yeah Yeahs, alaska!), Andrew Murdock, and Lisa Germano. It's due for release on October 6th.
The project is actually under the working band name of Lou Barlow + the Missingmen, with the Missingmen consisting of Tom Watson and drummer Raul Morales, who also play with Mike Watt.
It should come as no surprise that Goodnight Unknown sounds a lot like Dinosaur Jr and what Lou callls “a cross between my later work with Folk Implosion and my earlier work with Sebadoh…to my ears, anyway.”
They'll be playig this fall on on the Dinosaur Jr. tour, so Lou will be doing double duty, playing in both the opening band and headlining band. There seems to be a lot of that going on right now...
