Jemina Pearl (formerly of the now defunct Be Your Own Pet) has announced her new album, titled Break It Up. It will be her debut album as a solo performer, and will be released on Universal/Ecstatic Peace on October 6th. She worked with producer John Agnello on the album.

It's being compared to sounds like Shangri Las, Avengers and Undertones.

Given her relatively well-known status from BYOP and being on Thurston Moore's Ecstatic Peace label, it will come as no surprise that she's landed a duet with none other then Mr. Iggy Pop. It's part of the album, and is being offered as a free download right now.
