It started as an announcement of a Pavement show in Central Park, and quickly blew up into a set of shows. The band will play 4 shows, on September 21st - 24th at Rumsey Playfield in Central Park. They'll also release a compilation album in 2010, but stress that no new album is on the way.
"There will be multiple, possibly four, nights of shows at NYC's Central Park Summerstage in September of that year. That could be part of a tour. That could be the end of a tour, the middle of a tour, or even the beginning of a tour, but it seems reasonable to speculate that they might make their official comeback at Coachella in April," reads a post that started it all on BrooklynVegan.
Now we know it's all real, and there are more shows beyond Central Park. Matador Records is saying that the band is "reuniting for dates around the world in 2010."
Coachella theories are starting after an interview in Rolling Stone. |
