The San Francisco lovefest known as the Noise Pop Music Festival is off to a furious start with the announcement of its 2010 festival dates. It will go down on February 23rd - 28th at places like The Bottom Of The Hill, Bimbo's, and Great American Music Hall. Check out more information at the festival overview.
If you've got a band, and you're sufficiently noisy (or pop, better yet both) you can still try to land a gig at the festival. Submissions are being accepted until December 31st from bands that qualify as Indie Rock, Alternative, Rock, Punk, Hip Hop, or Singer-songwriter. Dig it.
And of course there's the requisite film festival, Indie Night School sessions, Noise Pop poster show, art shows, and more to be announced.
Noise Pop started in 1993 as a one night deal with 5 bands in a small club, but has grown over time to include multiple days, multiple locations, film screenings, panels, and art. It has played host the Flaming Lips doing a boombox experiment, Frank Black and the Catholics doing Pixies songs, Death Cab For Cutie, 16 Deluxe, and more. They even tried to spawn a sister Noise Pop in Chicago in 2000.
