Polaris Prize Winner to be Determined Today

Canada's Polaris Music Prize will determine its 2009 winner on Monday, September 21st at the Polaris Music Prize Gala in Toronto. You can listen to the event and all of the performances on the CBC live broadcast, or on Sirius Satellite Radio.


Who made the cut for this year's short list? Names like Metric, Chad VanGaalen, Mlajube, Fucked Up, Great Lake Swimmers and more. See the full list below. Also check out the Long List.


The winner receives $20,000 (thus the prize), judged solely on artistic merit, without regard to genre or record sales. The Polaris Music Prize is awarded to the best full-length Canadian album released from June 1, 2008 to May 31, 2009.
