Choreographer Lucinda Childs has taken the music from composer/programmer Max Richter's album Songs From Before and created The Rameau-Richter Project, an original dance piece that also features two other pieces by Jo Strømgren and Garry Stewart.
Lucind Childs will perform to the music of Max Richter and Jo Strømgren and Garry Stewart will perform to music written by composer Jean-Philippe Rameau.
The show will happen in two individual residencies and two one-off performances.
Richter’s background sheds much light on the heart-wrenching yet compellingly comforting, soothing sounds of his bittersweet music. He trained in composition and piano at Edinburgh University, at The Royal Academy of Music, and with Luciano Berio in Florence. He co-founded the prestigious ensemble Piano Circus and worked with them for ten years, commissioning and performing works by Arvo Pärt, Brian Eno, Philip Glass, Julia Wolfe, and Steve Reich. He was active in developing the group’s use of live sampling and was immersed in the early electronic music scene.
