With the New York Art Book Fair come and gone comes the news that Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth is starting his own publishing company to release art books.

It will be called Ecstatic Peace Library, a parallel move to go alongside his Ecstatic Peace recording label. EPL will do the finding and releasing of authors and material, D.A.P./ Distributed Art Publishers will be the distributor. Maybe there's room for audiobooks in the future? A recording label and a book publisher, it seems so obvious ...

Thurston has taken a stab at putting the quill to paper with past books like "Mixtape: The Art of Cassette Culture," "No Wave: Post Punk. Underground. New York," and the soon to be released "Grunge," among others.

According to a report in the LA Times, the first releases will be from members of the Sonic Youth tribe: Raymond Pettibon, Dave Markey and Kim Gordon.
