The Besnard Lakes will return on March 8/9 with their first full-length album since The Besnard Lakes are The Dark Horse in 2007. Building on the elements of experimental pop songs of the previous album, they've moved forward and added something new. A storyline.
"... a twisting chronicle of spies, double agents, novelists and aspiring rock gods turned violent. Loyalty, dishonor, love, and hatred are all seen through the eyes of two spies, communicating through short wave in code and fighting a war that may or may not be real," reads the description from their label Jagjaguwar Records.
Invoking comparisons to the more artistic and ambitious side of Fleetwood Mac (as compared to to the mystical side) and ELO and Alan Parsons Project, the band is looking to build a new future based on the past.
The album was recorded in Breakglass Studio in Montreal, a studio that has played home to Led Zeppelin (for Physical Graffitti) as well as Canadian groups like Sunset Rubdown, Wolf Parade, and Malajube.
The Besnard Lakes Are The Roaring Night will be released on March 9th via Jagjaguwar Records.
