Gorillaz are fully back with a new album and some shows shaping up. The new album is titled Plastic Beach and will be released on Virgin Records on March 9th. There's a single for the song Stylo that features Mos Def & Bobby Womack, and it goes on sale on January 26th.

You can check it out on YouTube here, or better yet go to the Gorillaz web site where they've got the same song as well as some videos of the new Gorillaz world ... it's like a retro-futuristic Jetsons world by the sea. If you look at some of the clips, you'll notice that there's more stuff due to arrive on the site next week and the week after that.

Guest appearances are all over the map, and include Lou Reed, Snoop Dogg, Bobby Womack, Mos Def, Posdnuos (De La Soul), Gruff Rhys (Super Furry Animals), The Horrors, Mark E. Smith (The Fall), Mick Jones (the Clash) and Paul Simonon (the Clash).

Gorillaz are also due to headline one of the days of the Coachella Festival this year.

Murdoc published posts via Twitter last week, saying "Album almost finished. Drinks being mastered. Isolation kicking in. Bucket of Propofol to help me sleep. Happy 2010!!!"

Damon Alburn told The Guardian last year that it's the most pop record he's ever made, meaning it combines pop sensibility and central meloncholy of a ready-made, plastic package. Stylo is exactly that, with fully compressed vocals, accessible rythms, and mainstream radio accessibility.
