Tom Waits is working with director Robert Wilson and playwrite Martin McDonagh on a musical set to premiere in Paris in 2011.
This isn't the first time the pair have worked together, previously collaborated on theatre productions like Alice in Wonderland, Woyzeck and The Black Rider.
The Black Rider brought the two together with William Burroughs, in which Tom Waits did the music, William Burroughs did the writing, and Robert Wilson brought it to life on the stage.
Late last year, Tom Waits released the Glitter and Doom Live album. It's a 2-disc set, in which the first disc plays like a live set, with tracks pulled from individual shows, lined up to sound like one, cohesive show. Disc two is a compilation of in-between song banter, including musings, comedy and stuff he just throws out at the audience. |
