Disco-punk-electro peeps can take note ... LCD Soundsystem will release an as-of yet untitled album on May 17th in Europe via DFA and Parlophone and on the18th via DFA and Virgin in the U.S.
It was recorded at The Manshun in Los Angeles, where LCD Soundsystem frontman James Murphy had been cranking out the album and a soundtrack for the Noah Baumbach film Greenberg (due on on March 22nd). He also worked on it in New York.
He had to stop work on the LCD album to complete the soundtrack, which sounds nothing like LCD Soundsystem.
"The hardest part was stopping in the middle to make music that had absolutely nothing to do with the record. I wasn't at all concerned about it sounding like me or sounding like LCD. In fact, it was almost a non-goal," said Murphy when speaking to SPIN.
