At long last. The new Animal Collective movie, ODDSAC, is making a limited run of screenings through some European theaters this month. And it's coming out on DVD on June 29th. Danny Perez and members of the band will be in attendance at some of these shows.
The film is an experimental one, not easily pigeon-holed into a certain vehicle or plot type. It's like an Animal Collective music video, visual narrative and experimental film type of thing. But it's also none of these things.
"It was meant to be an open-ended operation of audio-video synthesis, the passing back and forth of visuals and sound so that each would inform the other and create an organic structure," said Danny Perez.
ODDSAC premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah earlier this year, and the Animal Collective Oddsac trailer has been floating around, just to drive everyone crazy until they can see the full movie.
