How To Destroy Angels have decided that it's time to release their long-awaited EP, and that they were going to do it for free. It will be a six track affair, available as a free download on June 1st, and you get an advance track of the song "The Believers" if you pre-register for the download early. It's a blissed out, schizo noise fest with smooth parts in between.
The songs are delivered as high-quality DRM-free MP3s. For a measly two bucks, you can upgrade to HD (HTDAHD!) and choose from FLAC, WAV or Apple Lossless. But wait, there's more! You also get a copy of the "The Space In Between" video.
For those that need the tactile How To Destroy Angels experience of CD or vinyl, they're coming, but you'll pay (oh, you'll pay!). CDs will be available on July 6th and vinyl sometime after that. Check out the song titles below, it sounds like a happy, upbeat affair.
They've been slowly warming up to this, releasing How To Destroy Angels videos, and the occasional song, while all the while talking about a new EP.
Tour dates? Nothing on that yet, but I'll bet we get at least a few appearances here and there before this year is done.
How To Destroy Angels have also made tracks available for download for a remix project. They're offering multitrack files for the songs "A Drowning" and "The Space in Between." Multitrack files contain layers of the music in the two songs, allowing people to create their own remixes. Fans can use GarageBand or other software to create their versions of the How To Destroy Angels remixes, then upload them to the Nine Inch Nails remix area on their web site.
Trent Reznor and his wife Mariqueen Maandig (West Indian Girl ) started How to Destroy Angels with Atticus Ross, who co-produced the past three Nine Inch Nails albums. The name How To Destroy Angels was taken from a Coil single.
