Not Music will be released by Stereolab later this year. It's a raiding of the vault for Stereolab, a release of songs that were recorded in the studio while the band was creating the album Chemical Cords. Although the songs never made to release then, they'll finally see the light of day now as Not Music on November 16th via Drag City, according to a report from Pitchfork.
Laetitia Sadier is also set to release a solo album on Drag City.
Last year, Stereolab decided to go on sabbatical, possibly indefinitely. With almost 20 years of existence, and lots of albums and tours, it's easy to see why they wanted to take a break.
"We are are all going to have a bit of a rest now after nearly 19 years and work on a few other projects," read the announcement on the band's web site.
"As we recently made #51 with Emperor Tomato Ketchup in the Amazon 100 Greatest Indie Rock Albums of all Time we feel that our work is done for the moment."
Nice to see they still have a sense of humor. |
