Get ready as Yeasayer bring their trademarked warped pop sound to your city. The Brooklyn-based group has just added a bunch of stateside gigs for September and October, expanding on a summer tour that includes European festival stops at Rock Werchter, Exit Festival, T In The Park and Lollapalooza. The brief US tour starts on September 28th in Millvale, PA and ends on October 10th with a stop at Austin City Limits.
Yeasayer's continuous touring throughout 2010 is in support of their sophomore effort Odd Blood, out now on Secretly Canadian. It sounds like what would happen if James Murphy and Thom Yorke decided to collaborate while on LSD, which proves that Chris Keating and Co. are not afraid to take creative risks. Odd Blood is a more danceable version of an Animal Collective album, one which aims for clean psychedelic pop songs rather than subversiveness, as was evident on their first release All Hour Cymbals.
The soundscapes created in the studio, however incendiary, are wholly miniscule in comparison to Yeasayer's live sound. Each performance provides a canvas for long, drawn out dance grooves that the group uses to take the audience into their eccentric and slightly off kilter dream world. In a year concentrated with good - but not necessarily great or formidably creative releases - Yeasayer pushes the envelope with regards to what's possible within the realm of psychedelia and pop music.
