Radiohead are hoping to release a new album by the end of the year. Ed O'Brien told BBC's Radio 6 that they're in the studio now, wrapping up the album. He was on Adam Buxton’s Big Mixtape show.
"Ideally, it would be great if it came out sometime this year. It has got to. I hope so. We’re at the finishing line. When you're making a record, a film, writing a book for ages and ages you think the finishing line is miles away. Now it feels it's in touching distance."
Ed thinks the new Radiohead album could be out in a matter of weeks if all goes well.
News of a new Radiohead album is big news any day, but finding out that Radiohead is moving in a new direction is incredible news.
"It's very different from what we did last time. It’s really nice to be doing this. It's so good to be making music with the band that you feel is still as good as it's ever been."
This album will the follow up to Radiohead's 2007 album In Rainbows, often cited as one of the first big experiments of the pay-what-you-want model of releasing an album online.
