Before recording Phosphorescent's highly lauded new album Here's to Taking it Easy, front man Matthew Houck told Filter Magazine that he had quite the epiphany.

"We have six guys who are amazingly good players, and we realized that we had the ability to make what I consider to be a classic record, in the way of a Rolling Stones or 1970's-era Dylan records." And, while the new record does not even touch neither Bob Dylan nor the Rolling Stones with a ten foot stick, it's still a sensational record, one which straddles the sonic boundaries of folk and alternative country, and should liven up Phosphorescent's usual stripped down concerts.

Houck has had quite a tough time in the past breaking off from his solo persona, recording his last record of all original material, 2007's Pride all by himself, apparently looking inward to evaluate his own strengths and shortcomings. Since then, however, Matthew has been a beam of musical creativity, especially with this newest release.

They're hitting the road in support of Here's to Taking it Easy for 14 select dates throughout Europe, including  several festivals like the massive Bestival with acts such as LCD Soundsystem, Flaming Lips, and Flying Lotus. Additional stops include several U.K., Paris, Amsterdam, and Stockholm.

This tour should be good for Houck, as he seems most comfortable in front of European audiences, having just returned from a European touring excursion, only to now return once again. 2010 is proving to be a mammoth year for Phosphorescent, and it should be smooth sailing from here on out, with appearances on "Best of 2010" lists ready to happen.
