The Apple Store has landed in Shanghai, China. It officially opened the new Apple Store on Saturday. They reportedly had 150 Apple fan(atics) waiting overnight to get in and see the new store.
The Apple Store is located in the Pudong district, which is a financial district. Apple is clearly targeting upscale customers here, with at least 50 million of China's 1.3 billion residents falling into the category of potential Apple customers.
The new Apple Store features a sleek and minimal 40-foot glass tower as its entrance, which leads down the stairs to a 16,000 square feet store with hundreds of Apple computers connected via Wi-Fi.
Apple has announced intentions to open 25 Apple Stores to open by the end of 2011, including another Shanghai location. The first Apple Store was opened in Beijing in a few years ago. |
