The War on Drugs have laid out a new, long EP for release in October titled Future Weather. It's long enough to be a full-length album of its own, but they're still calling it an EP.

Check out the MP3 "Comin' Through" for an advance sample of what's to come (through). It's got an Americana road-trippin sort of vibe to it.

Citing influences as diverse as Roy Orbison and Brian Eno, The War On Drugs  create the kind of folk-influenced sounds you'd imagine emenating from an AM radio decades ago, but with a presence that sounds relevant today.

"Future Weather sidesteps most every connotation associated with the EP format. There's a true coalescence and symmetry here, one of wash and drone, of momentum and tone, but also of theme," reads the announcement for the album.

The EP is intended to be a hold over until The War On Drugs completes their next full length album, which they say is nearing completion.

Future Weather will be released by Secretly Canadian on October 28.
