The xx Win the 2010 Mercury Music Prize

The xx has won Britain's Mercury Music Prize for their album The xx, winning the £20,000 cash prize. They beat out the odds on favorite Paul Weller as well as Foals and Mumford and Sons.

The band's front man Oliver Sim said "I don't know what we were expecting but we weren't expecting this."

The Mercury Music Prize is open to any albums released by British and irish artists between July 2009 and July 2010. They announced the winner at an award show September 7th.

The xx was the winner is Spacelab's Mercury Music Prize poll as well.
