David Byrne released his book Bicycle Diaries last year, and on September 28, the book will finally arrive on audiobook and paperback.
Check out the audio preview above. Byrne lays out what it was like to use a bike as his main means of transportation starting in the 80's in New York. He felt like he could experience the city more than being in a car, and got to move along faster to his destination than walking.
Over time, he brought a folding bike with him on trips around the world, and rode in cities like Buenos Aires, Istanbul, San Francisco, and London. Bicycle Diaries is David Byrne's capture of what it was like to experience all of these places. The audiobook adds in all sorts of location sounds for a sense of presence (why don't more audio books do this?)
Each chapter of Bicycle Diaries is dedicated to a city.
